EMCOR UK also awarded the Workforce Involvement in Safety and Health Trophy and four Gold Medals

EMCOR UK fought off stiff international competition to scoop two prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards, after being named the winner of the Facilities Management Industry Sector Award and Water Industry Sector Award.

Having been highly commended in the Facilities Management Industry Sector award last year, EMCOR UK is delighted to be announced as the Sector winner this year; and in the Water Industry, this represents two years running that that the organisation has won the Sector award.

The organisation has also been awarded the RoSPA Workforce Involvement in Safety and Health Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the Industry Sector Award entrant demonstrating the best involvement of employees in their organisation's health and safety management high performance.

Further, in the National Defence Industry Sector, EMCOR UK was commended for its work with the Atomic Weapons Establishment.

Five Gold Medals

In addition to the sector awards, EMCOR UK has won four Gold Medals. These are awarded to organisations that have won five – nine consecutive Gold Awards.

EMCOR UK won Gold Medals for the following client partnerships:

  • United Utilities (eight consecutive Gold Awards)
  • Anglian Water (eight consecutive Gold Awards)
  • Thames Water (seven consecutive Gold Awards)
  • British Sugar (five consecutive Gold Awards)

EMCOR UK also won a second consecutive Gold Award in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, and a Gold Award with the Royal Sun Alliance for the first time.

The numerous award wins demonstrate EMCOR UK’s dedication to ensuring its employees and clients operate within the highest health and safety standards. All awards cover the period from 1st January – 31st December 2022.

These awards further evidence the focus that EMCOR UK places on health and safety. This was recognised internationally in March when the organisation won an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2022 calendar year.

About the RoSPA Awards

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. Now into its 67th year, the Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries and a reach of over seven million employees. The programme recognises organisations’ commitment to continuous improvement in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work, looking at entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

While most awards are non-competitive – recognising individual organisations’ achievements – competitive awards are presented in 20 industry sectors and for specialist areas of health and safety management.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “Accidents at work and work-related ill health don’t just have huge financial implications or cause major disruption – they significantly impact an individual’s quality of life. That’s why good safety performance deserves to be recognised and rewarded.
