EMCOR UK, a leading provider of facilities, asset and workplace management services, is delighted to support the Southampton City Council’s Christmas Toy Appeal and thanks to the generosity of its colleagues has donated 418 children’s presents.

Each year, Southampton City Council runs an appeal to ensure that children and young people who are supported by its children’s services have a special gift to open on Christmas morning. The appeal calls on local businesses, organisations, and the community to donate new toys and gifts for children and young people up to the age of 18.

Cath Hopkins, Central Project Co-ordinator for EMCOR UK, said: “This is the fourth year that I have managed our involvement with the Appeal and every year the response has grown which is fantastic. I contacted EMCOR UK employees at our Eastleigh office and friends and family and am so thrilled that over 400 presents have been donated.”

Jonathan Gawthrop, Executive Director Wellbeing Sustainability & Assurance for EMCOR UK, said: “We are passionate about supporting the communities where we operate and it is wonderful to see how many of our colleagues have supported this Christmas appeal.  We would like to thank Cath, for initiating this support, and all our colleagues who have made donations as well as the EMCOR UK fleet department who provided a van to transport all the presents to Southampton City Council.”

Councillor Peter Baillie, Cabinet Member for Children’s Social Care at Southampton City Council, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for EMCOR UK’s support of our annual toy appeal. The staff and their families have really shown true festive spirit over the past four years with a huge number of toys donated each year. The gifts will bring a bright smile to so many children’s faces on Christmas morning.”

This year the Southampton City Council’s Toy Appeal has resulted in the donation of over 20,000 presents which will be delivered to children this week.
