September 2019: By saying ‘no’ to new and searching out second hand bargains and gifting good quality used garments to Oxfam – colleagues will be bringing a whole new meaning to recycle and re-use to their offices this month.
Awareness about the need to reduce consumption is growing. Recently, Prof. Sir Ian Boyd, the government's chief environment scientist warned that big lifestyle changes were 'needed to cut emissions' if the UK is to virtually halt greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 – pointing to using less transport and buying fewer clothes.
Did you know, for example, it takes 13 years for a person to drink the amount of water it takes to make a pair of jeans and a t-shirt!? It’s a real eye opener!
Sustainability is very close to our hearts. As the first FM company worldwide to conform to ISO20400 Sustainable Procurement, ISO14001 Environmental Management and ISO 50001 Energy Management, we’re committed to raising awareness and encouraging the people whose lives we touch - to think twice about their ‘footprint’ and do what they can to reduce and recycle.
Alongside behavioural change, technology plays a very big part in helping us to consume less. For example, we have implemented an award-winning water saving technology used in showers, reducing consumption by 80%. One of many innovations we are delivering for customers across the UK.
If you would like to know more about the innovations we can offer to help you consume less, then please get in touch.
