Colleagues, friends and family members have generously donated an astonishing 234 Christmas gifts to children who are being supported by Southampton City Council’s children’s services teams.

This heart-warming local community initiative is led by Cath Hopkins who is located at our Eastleigh office, near Southampton. Starting back in September, Cath reached out to colleagues, families and friends, asking them to get involved. Each participant was then given a child’s name, age and asked to wrap and personalise a gift of no more than £15 in value.

In 2018 Cath collected 67 gifts, so as gift-after-gift kept arriving at her desk throughout November, she soon realised she would be on target to beat her 2018 target. After the closing date in early December, Cath was humbled by the response and astonished to count 234 gifts.

Soon after, all 234 gifts and were loaded into one of our vans and Catherine, Dave Godfrey and Lee Chapman delivered them to Southampton City Council on one of the wettest days of the year.

The weather didn’t dampen Cath’s spirits. To everyone who helped and who donated a gift, she said: “we are going to make some little children very happy when they receive our presents this Christmas Day. Be very proud of yourselves and thank you”.

Our thanks and congratulations are extended to Cath and all those involved in this wonderful community appeal.
