Regardless of what our customers are seeking from us as their facilities management (FM) service provider, EMCOR UK has the skills, knowledge, and experience to make the mobilisation process efficient and worry free by utilising proven risk management strategies.
Our mobilisation process is compliant with BS 8892:2014—the transition management of facility-related services standard—which gives recommendations on processes and procedures by which facility owners, operators, and tenants can manage the transition from one facility-related service provision to another.
At the bid stage, we analyse each customer’s specific requirements, geographic location, and culture using our ISO 44001-accredited key account management (KAM) process. This helps ensure we match the right team to the right customer.
Each mobilisation team is led by one of our highly experienced Account Directors and supported by a Mobilisation and Transition (M&T) Manager who is accredited in PRINCE2 and Six Sigma systems.
The team is comprised of an Operational Support Group (OSG) consisting of Account Directors, Managers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who provide technical knowledge and support throughout the duration of contract. Each individual holds the appropriate security clearances for a wide range of customer protocols.
Prior to contract award, EMCOR UK’s M&T Manager designs a detailed mobilisation plan which includes a thorough Risk, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependences (RAID) tracker.
The mobilisation plan is then finalised to include activities as well as a bespoke risk mitigation plan. To help ensure a smooth and effective transition for the customer, each plan is extremely detailed, outlining all activities, milestones, owners, dependencies, and test strategies for every stage of mobilisation.
EMCOR UK self-delivers all major FM services. We work alongside incumbent suppliers during the mobilisation period to gain a full understanding of the services they deliver and knowledge they hold. Where required, we agree to novate suppliers by first performing a robust pre-qualification assessment, followed by a legal contract agreement. Our supply chain aligns to our accreditation in sustainable procurement and ISO 44001 practices to ensure collaborative working.
At EMCOR UK, we understand the complexities of TUPE transfers and have successfully managed the process for over 20 years. We also understand, and are sensitive to, staff concerns that arise and recognise the importance of early communication and consultation with the staff.
Our HR team carefully manages the TUPE process and engages with all potential transferees as early as possible. We hold roadshow presentations to explain the transfer process and introduce the EMCOR UK business culture. We perform 1-2-1 meetings with each transferee to answer any questions and gain an understanding of their willingness to transfer. This also provides an early indication of any potential gaps in the knowledge transfer. We then mobilise EMCOR UK SMEs with the purpose of mapping out key processes and procedures and shadowing employees who are at risk of not transferring. We then identify a ‘bench’ team from other local EMCOR UK contracts to step in at contract go-live to mitigate any gaps.
Whether the mobilisation process appears to be simple or complex, large or small, EMCOR UK’s experience and standard-compliant processes can put customers' mobilisation concerns at ease.
