British American Tobacco In Partnership With EMCOR Facilities Services Win Prestigious National Energy Award
EMCOR Facilities Services, the global facilities management company, has been awarded a £2m contract by Iveco, one of the world's largest manufacturers in the transport sector, to manage the facilities for two of its largest sites.
British American Tobacco in partnership with EMCOR Facilities Services have been awarded national recognition for achievements in energy efficiency, becoming one of only 250 UK companies to achieve accreditation under the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme – the UK's independent benchmark for energy use by the Carbon Trust.
At the national awards ceremony in Birmingham, British American Tobacco was particularly praised by the assessors for the commitment its management has made to becoming energy efficient, with special mention also made of the energy efficient technology the company and EMCOR has incorporated into the business.
EMCOR Facilities Services played a key role in helping British American Tobacco's prestigious Headquarters building, Globe House, achieve accreditation, working with the Facilities management team to maintain and improve on good practice in energy management, keep up to date with new energy saving initiatives and above all, encourage staff to be energy aware. These initiatives have allowed for the 'mothballing' of two boilers, installation of electronic expansion valves on the main IT chillers, and a significant reduction in energy consumption using the building management and lighting systems.
EMCOR has worked in close partnership with British American Tobacco for the past eight years, fully embracing the 'one team' approach as a core part of the British American Tobacco Facilities Department culture, in doing so delivering strategic advice and implementation across a broad scope of mechanical, electrical & fabric facilities services and maintenance.
British American Tobacco Facilities Manager, Phil Hepburn, and EMCOR Technical Project Manager, Carl Ritsma, received the accreditation certificate from the Director of the Carbon Trust, Alan Stevenson at the awards ceremony in Birmingham on Tuesday.
