EMCOR UK’s Work Winning Director, Simi Gandhi-Whitaker Addressed the Senior Women’s Network as Part of the HMRC’s International Women’s Day 2017 Celebrations

EMCOR UK’s Work Winning Director, Simi Gandhi-Whitaker addressed the Senior Women’s Network (Gender Network) and staff across the Civil Service as part of the HMRC’s International Women’s Day 2017 celebrations at Whitehall on Thursday 2nd March.

This year the focus is on the theme of #BeBoldForChange to encourage individuals and organisations to help forge a better working world - a more gender inclusive world. As part of the celebrations, the HMRC are hosting various local events around the country in the first two weeks of March, commencing with the first at Horse Guards in London.

As a keynote speaker, Simi spoke about her passion and enthusiasm for the FM industry, her career journey in the private sector and the obstacles she had to overcome as a women in a male dominated environment, all centered on the theme of ‘Empowering Women, Empowering All.’

“Don’t take no for an answer” and “remember to Pay it Forward by empowering other women as you progress and become further empowered yourself” were some of the takeaways she left her audience with.

She further discussed her role as Chair of Women in FM and how she is leading our Creating Balance agenda at EMCOR UK.

International Women's Day (Wednesday 8th March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
