DESCRIPTION

TSYS, the world's largest international card processor, required one of the most resilient data centres in the world, one that would serve the TSYS market throughout the whole of Europe and Middle East.

EMCOR Engineering Services provided mechanical and electrical (M&E) services to the new state-of-the-art building in North Yorkshire involving extensive work at a new 15,000 square foot data centre complex, as well as a 20,000 square foot two-storey office building. EMCOR will operate in conjunction with the main contractor for the project, Quarmby Construction.

Specific M&E work will include the installation of: lighting, general power, fire and security and access control, fully integrated Building Management System, fire suppression system, free cooling units, downflow units, dual chilled water distribution, mechanical ventilation, domestic hot and cold water services, four pipe fan coil units, as well as above ground drainage and central oil storage tank.

Resilience has been incorporated into every aspect of the critical mechanical and electrical service distributions including standby plant.

It is fed from two separate High Voltage primary sub-stations. The facility incorporates a high integrity power supply to ensure the minimal downtime risk to the mission critical operations, with the HV supplies terminated into two separate HV intake rooms. The data centre's electrical supplies will then be protected by a Rotary Hybrid UPS System.
