EMCOR ENGINEERING SERVICES VALUE DELIVERED
EMCOR Engineering Services Ltd has completed a £24 million mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering services contract in 12 months for the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) facility at RAF St. Athan, South Wales. The completion of the M&E services contract marks the first stage of a 15-year full life cycle deal, which will include total facilities management services.

EMCOR ENGINEERING SERVICES SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of construction engineering and facilities services completed by EES’ includes the provision of hydraulics, pneumatics, spray paint facility, FA/PA, CCTV and security, voice and date systems, 400H3 power distribution, air-condition and dx cooling (industrial HVAC) , complex lighting control systems, sprinkler fire protector, and fire detection systems.
THE DEFENCE FACILITIES BACKGROUND
The Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) was created in April 1999 by amalgamating the RAF’s Maintenance Group Defence Agency (MGDA) and the Naval Aircraft Repair Organisation (NARO). It is the largest Government owned aerospace repair facility within Europe, delivering one-stop-shop aerospace support to the MoD, overseas government and Industry. DARA became a Trading Agency of the MoD in April 2001.
DARA employs over 4000 staff located on four sites in the UK –St Athan near Cardiff; Fleetlands at Gosport, Hampshire; Almondbank in Perthshire, Scotland; and Sealand in Flintshire, North Wales.
EMCOR ENGINEERING SERVICES OBJECTIVES
DARA’s ‘Super Hangar’ facility will be used to promote excellence among international aviation engineers and will enable the company to bid successfully for the future work and be more competitive in the aviation maintenance market place. The facility, the largest in the UK, will provide20,000m² of support workshops and office facilities for head office and Fixed Wing staff and 45,000m² of hanger accommodation.
