OASIS ACADEMY FACILITIES BACKGROUND
Oasis Academy Enfield is sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, an independent charity which is part of the Oasis Global family. The Academy is situated on the Innova Park Estate, Enfield Lock, with purpose-built facilities for 1,150 students aged 11-19, including sixth form facilities for 250. The Academy specialises in Business and Enterprise.
The building has been designed to be both coherent and welcoming to the wider community of Enfield Lock. Community spaces are grouped to the southern side of the building so that the kitchen and dining spaces, sports hall, changing rooms, assembly hall, and lecture theatre are all closely related. At the centre of the building, an agora provides a lantern which will make a visible landmark from some distance while providing a communal heart to the school.
EMCOR ENGINEERING SERVICES VALUE DELIVERED
In order to minimise installation costs and provide an energy efficient and sustainable building, best use was made of natural ventilation and daylight modelling. The Academy achieved a BREEAM "Very Good" rating, using sustainable building technology and materials.
Strict and tight budget constraints were teamed with a demanding programme as students were housed in temporary accommodation on an adjacent site. The construction engineering project was programme critical for occupation at the start of the new academic year in September 2008.
The integration of services were required to be sympathetic with the architectural context of the building.
