BACKGROUND

Barclaycard is Europe's leading issuer of credit cards with 11 million cards in circulation worldwide. EMCOR has developed and established a strong business partnership with Barclaycard and is responsible for the management of the building engineering services across the entire Northampton site and all regional centers.

Barclaycard relocated its new headquarters to Barclaycard House in Northampton, a new 375,000 square foot building, consisting of 6 blocks built around a glass-covered street. Approximately 2,500 Barclaycard staff moved into the new offices in February 1997.

The building has gained an "Excellent" rating of the British Research Establishment Environment Assessment Method (BREEAM rating) – this means Barclaycard's new headquarters is recognised as being very ecologically and environmentally "friendly" with its use of natural resources and recycled materials.
