Tony entered the construction industry in 1966 when he joined Bovis Construction Ltd. straight from college as an Indentured Quantity Surveying Trainee.
He first reached Director level when he joined Henry Boot Construction in 1978 where he stayed for four years before moving to Balfour Beatty Developments Ltd. and Building Ltd. where he became a Director and member of the board. He was responsible for development projects, all building activity in southern England, project management activities and most joint ventures.
In 1989, he became Chief Executive and Project Director of Heron Quays Development and the western segment of Canary Wharf for Olympia & York, where he was responsible for a mixed property development in Docklands.
With the collapse of the property market in 1991, Tony set up his own management consultancy business and combined this with another consultancy company in 2001 to form Asprey Associates, to advise and manage all aspects of corporate management, construction and property development activity.
In the interim, from 1992 to 1994, Tony also held the position of Group Managing Director at the Watkins Group of Companies.
In 1995, he moved to The Parkman Group plc, a multi-disciplinary engineering based international consultancy, as Chief Executive.
Tony undertook key strategic tasks, as well as the role of Chief Operating Officer, for EMCOR in October 2002. He was appointed Chief Executive for the company in July 2003.
