|
Don has a wealth of operational, facilities management and compliance experience in a broad range of engineering environments. He has previously held roles with UK and overseas responsibility for several major civil and facilities management organisations, as well as the Ministry of Defense. Don is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
Since joining EMCOR in October 2004 as Compliance Director for EMCOR Facilities Services, Don has led the health and safety, environment and quality team who ensure effective compliance management at all levels for all applicable legislation, corporate policies, best practice and client requirements.
Don’s foremost priority is health and safety and that includes making it an essential part of company culture. EMCOR employs a group-wide ‘Be There for Life - Zero Accident Programme’ and ensures that all employees are provided with the necessary training and equipment in order to carry out their job and return to their homes unharmed.
In 2008, Don managed the project team which gained external PAS 55 accreditation for EMCOR’s ARMS (Asset and Resource Management System) at Heathrow Terminal 5 – making EMCOR the first facilities management company in the UK to achieve this. Don was also instrumental in EMCOR becoming fully certified to ISO 14001 which recognises the company’s environmental management systems.
Outside work hours, Don enjoys golf, albeit now from the armchair, and is a keen supporter of Newcastle United. As well as sport, Don enjoys spending time with his family and has recently become a grandfather to twin boys.
